What is social media sharing?

In 2018, social media was taken as one of the factors in determining the page rank of a website.

Social media sharing is using social media ( such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram etc) to share your website to enlarge your audience. It can be a simple and highly beneficial resource if used in the right way.

Besides that, the optimization techniques such as adding the social media widgets into your websites will be discussed as well.

TWITTER

You can optimize your Twitter profile by adding posts with a consistent posting schedule, by using rich keywords etc. 

  • Steps to create an efficient tweet (in the case of a blog):

  1. Log into your Twitter account and its best to have a profile picture to gain better trust of viewers.
  2. Then move onto your blog post you want to share, and click on the share icon and click on Twitter option. A pop up window automatically opens up with an automatic tweet generated.

      3.To this tweet ,we can add a sentence or two about what the post is about as a description.
      4. Next it is crucial you add hashtags (helps increase outreach thus helping with page ranking).
      5.You also have the option to add an image to represent your blog post.
      6.And then click on 'Post'.

We can track the Tweet analytics wherein we understand the impressions, the retweets, likes etc. Always make sure not to post multiple tweets one after the another as this can crowd your viewers page and thus decrease their interest.

We can also add the Twitter widget into your blog. This can enhance the trust and faith of viewers in the case where your blog was created using a free blogging platform (Blogger used in this case).
  • Steps to create the Twitter widget and embed it into your blog:
  1. Open Publish twitter in a new tab.
      2.Paste your blog URL and then you will be lead to two 'Display options'. Clicking on either, you will be given the option to 'Copy code'.

      3.Then move onto Blogger page, click 'Layout' and in the 'Sidebar' region, click on 'Add a gadget'.


      4.You will see some options provided, click on 'HTML java script' .
      5.In the content space , paste the copied code and the click 'Save'.

To check the widget visibility, click on your main blog URL and then the 'Menu' option and you can see that the Twitter timeline will be embedded.

Since Ethical bribing in social media is okay, you yourself can like your posted tweet. By clicking on the three dots in your post, you can share your post as well.

LINKEDIN

By optimizing your LinkedIn profile, you can improve the chance to increase your page rank and at the same time give a clear image and representation for your website.

You also have the option to add your skills which can be updated regularly for possible work enquiries and internship opportunities.

  • Steps to optimizing your LinkedIn profile for your site:

  1. Log into your LinkedIn account and click on your your profile.
  2. Then click on 'Edit public profile and URL' in which you can edit your blog to your preference.


{Always make sure not to change it again once edited. The reason being ,for eg, once you have changed your blog URL, over a span of two years you will have got much impression, views, likes etc.
In short the skills you've added to your profile, the followers gained etc will have all increased your Social authority score. This is accumulated into your current blog URL in the form of Authority value.

If you were to change your blog URL again after two years, all your progress will be lost and you will have to start from scratch.}
     
     3.Next, scroll down to 'Public profile badge', and create a badge .
Under step 1---> copy the code and insert it into the 'Add a gadget' option in Blogger,  as discussed in the Twitter section.

You can check the progress in your blog by clicking on 'Menu' option and you can see the LinkedIn widget has been added.

  • Steps to post about a blog post on LinkedIn:
  1. Click on your blog post  and copy its URL.
  2. Move onto LinkedIn and click on 'Start a post' and paste the URL.
  3. Type in a small interesting description with hashtags relevant to the post.
  4. Then click on 'Post'.

Glossary

  1. Social security score- measure your presence and engagement on a scale from 1 to 100.
  2. Authority value- a good score in this means that your site is trusted.
  3. Ethical bribing - accepted methods to increase page ranking and increase leads etc  like liking your own post.
